2014 marks 200 years since the birth of Dom Rosendo Salvado, a Benedictine Monk who played an important role in the establishment of Subiaco and co-founded New Norcia with Dom Joseph Serra.
To commemorate the bicentenary, the Subiaco Museum is featuring an exhibition entitled Founding ‘New Subiaco’: The Benedictine Connection, detailing the Benedictine past of Subiaco. The exhibition will feature images and artefacts from the historic collections of Subiaco Museum and New Norcia Museum and Art Gallery.
The exhibition was launched on 4 August at an event held in the Subiaco Library, which featured a evening talk by Dom Christopher Power from the Benedictine Community of New Norcia.
The exhibition opens on 5 August, and will run until mid-November. The City of Subiaco's Museum is open Tuesday to Sunday, 2pm to 5pm (closed Mondays).
