Building works to remove all asbestos and replace affected parts of the roof and walls at Lords recreation centre will soon commence.
At its meeting on 27 May, council approved the appointment of Safeway Building & Renovations Pty Ltd to undertake the work. Safeway is a licensed and experienced asbestos removalist and building contractor.
Safeway will take possession of the premises on Monday 16 June for site establishment and general cleaning, and it is anticipated that external building works will commence on 30 June.
Safety is our highest priority for this project. Check out the frequently asked questions for more information about the building works including information about air monitoring and the site establishment map.
At this stage, it is anticipated that Lords will reopen in late September. The city looks forward to providing the community with an improved facility.
