Have your say on the Subiaco Town Centre Public Realm Design and Streetscape Enhancement Proposal
Friday 3 October 2014

nullThe City of Subiaco has undertaken studies and extensive site analysis of the town centre. A Schematic Design Proposal has been prepared and two major retail streets are the key focus areas for improvements to help activate the city’s streetscapes. The areas include Hay Street and Rokeby Road and their intersections with Bagot Road, Park Street, Barker Road, Churchill Avenue, Seddon Street and Roberts Road.

Two detailed design options for a ‘demonstration project area’ have been identified. Short term implementation of the Schematic Design Proposal is envisaged for the ‘demonstration project area’ on Rokeby Road between Hay Street and Roberts Road.

The Schematic Design Proposal suggests improvement to the streetscape for the identified street components and includes road carriageways, pedestrian thoroughfare, utility strip, park strip, gutter, community squares and threshold areas. The detailed design options are broadly similar but differ in regards to the Seddon Street community square and the street components.

A Preliminary Style Guide has also been prepared and shows possible materials and colours for the street surface, street elements and furniture.

The city invites community involvement and feedback on the proposal to ensure the plan reflects community aspirations. In particular, residents, workers and those who visit the area regularly are encouraged to get involved and help create an inviting and active Subiaco Town Centre.

There are two 'drop in' sessions on offer for the public to actively engage with city staff about the proposal. The first will be held at Subi Farmers Market, at Subiaco Primary School, 271 Bagot Road, Subiaco on Saturday 18 October 2014. City staff will be available from 8am to 12noon to provide further information and answer any questions.

Another ‘drop in’ session is also available on Wednesday 29 October at 49 Rokeby Road, Subiaco between Hay Street and Roberts Road from 11am to 2pm. City staff will be available from to provide further information and answer any questions.

Participants can have their say by visiting the city's Have your say website. Hard copy information and feedback forms can also be found at the city’s Administration Centre, 241 Rokeby Road, Subiaco, and Subiaco Library, 237 Rokeby Road, Subiaco, during normal operating hours.

To allow for more time following the last drop-in session, the consultation period has been extended. Feedback will now close at 5pm on Tuesday 4 November 2014.
