A proposed ‘Cat Café’ in Subiaco would be the first of its kind in Western Australia.
The city is currently considering an application for a cat café at 147 Rokeby Road.
The cat café concept started in Tokyo, Japan, and has become popular around the world. Fans of cats and coffee alike pay a fee to spend time in a café environment with the ‘resident’ pets.
As part of the approvals process, a public consultation period about the change of use to the property closed on Wednesday 16 December. There has been a significant response from the community and the city expects to make a determination about the planning application early in the new year.
