City celebrates National Meals on Wheels Day
Tuesday 1 September 2015

On Wednesday 26 August the City of Subiaco celebrated National Meals on Wheels Day to recognise our volunteers and the contribution they make to the wellbeing of community members who use the service.

City of Subiaco staff, volunteers and clients were joined by special guests Councillor Scott Arbuckle, acting as Mayor, and Gilda Davies, Manager of Training and Development Volunteering WA, for a morning tea at Subiaco Community Centre to honour the occasion.

National Meals on Wheels Day is an annual celebration recognising the work of the 78,700 volunteers around the country. The city’s Meals on Wheels service is the largest single group of volunteers in the city, with 59 volunteers providing a meals service for 121 people. The city has two full time staff members, one of those a chef and the other a kitchen hand, who prepare on average 100 meals per day.

The city is looking for volunteers to join the Meals on Wheels service. To find out more about how to become a volunteer please contact the city on 9237 9320 or adminscc@subiaco.wa.gov.au
