The city is excited to have launched Kaya Subiaco, an Aboriginal culture activity program that invites the community to learn about and celebrate the culture, history and traditions of Noongar people.
The three month program explores various facets of Noongar culture inlcuding Indigenous painting techniques, growing bush tucker and storytelling.
Mayor Heather Henderson encourages all community members to get involved and learn more about the traditional landowners of Subiaco.
“Kaya is Noongar for hello, and Kaya Subiaco is all about saying hello to the traditions, history and culture of Noongar people through a range of activities and events that the entire community can enjoy,”
“Kaya Subiaco aims to increase knowledge and understanding about local culture, which is of particular importance with NAIDOC Week just around the corner.”
