Did you know that the City of Subiaco’s 35 parks cover 75 hectares of land and contain 13 800 trees?
In celebration of Parks Week 2016 (5 to 13 March) the city is holding a number of community events around the city including a kids nature talk and free fitness classes – there’s even a brand new pop-up park at Lords Recreation Centre.
City of Subiaco Mayor Heather Henderson says that Parks Week is a fantastic opportunity to get outdoors and share our leafy greenspaces together.
“We are extremely proud of the beautiful parks and reserves we have in the City of Subiaco and we are very lucky to have an abundance of greenspace throughout our city,” Mayor Henderson said.
“With the pristine weather we’ve been having, I encourage everyone to get involved with Parks Week by coming along to one of our Parks Week activities, or simply spending some time outdoors in one of our greenspaces – you may even discover a new favourite!”
Parks Week is a New Zealand Recreation Association and Parks and Leisure Australia initiative aimed at promoting the many benefits parks and open spaces provide the community.
